Frequency Bands

Frequency bands used by T-Mobile

The following tables list all the frequencies bands used by T-Mobile.

What band is actually used by your device is a combination of many factors. Every device supports different bands, and each cell tower supports different bands.

In general, the higher the frequency the faster the maximum potential speed, but the more the signal will suffer from physical obstructions between your device and the cell tower. In practice, lower frequency bands may give you better signal and better speed.

Most devices do not allow you to select a band. You may want your device to choose a higher frequency band, but the signal will not be good enough and the device will fall back to a lower frequency band.

When purchasing antenna or signal boost equipment, make sure to verify that it will support the frequency of the bands that your device uses.

Key

  • Main: This band is the primary band used by this carrier.
  • Sprint: This band was used by Sprint before the merger with T-Mobile.
  • Extended Range 4G: The signal on this band travels twice as far from the tower and are four times better in buildings than mid-band LTE
  • Extended Range 5G: These frequencies deliver speeds faster than 4G LTE—over hundreds of square miles—and can pass through buildings to provide better coverage both indoors and out.
  • Carrier Aggregation: Potential to combine bands of spectrum to create wider channels in the 2.5 GHz band, for up to double the speed.

5G Bands

T-Mobile is primarily using N71, and starting to incorporate Sprint's N41. The high-band specturm N260 and N261 are not yet deployed.
